Aloha, I’m Carena — a freelance photographer, artist, and business owner with over 20 years of experience in the digital media industry. For the past 11 years, I’ve been lucky to call the Hawaiian Islands home, where I find endless inspiration in the light, colors, and natural beauty that surround us.

I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients — from breathtaking destination weddings and romantic sunset sessions to big-wave adventures and dreamy underwater portraits. Each story I capture is unique, and my goal is always the same: to create timeless, emotive imagery that reflects genuine connection and the spirit of the islands.

My photography style blends documentary storytelling with artful portraiture. I love capturing candid, authentic moments while offering gentle guidance to help you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. The result is a beautiful mix of natural and posed images that tell the full story of your experience.

Before launching my photography business, I worked as a staff photographer for ASG (Surfer, Surfing, and Skateboarder Magazines), where I created content for surf, skate, and snow events across Oregon and Southern California. That foundation led me to study Photojournalism, Sports Media, Graphic Design, and Film Photography at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, further deepening my love for visual storytelling.

When I’m not photographing, you’ll likely find me in the ocean, surfing or free diving, hiking new trails, or traveling to new destinations. I’m also an artist represented by several fine art galleries throughout Hawai‘i, where I create mixed-media and ocean-inspired artwork.
